Why Black Cat Studios?

WHAT SETS BLACK CAT STUDIOS APART FROM THE REST OF CROSS STITCH DESIGN SERVICE COMPANIES?Our mission is to create each design order in a way that is representative of the original design, with the help of each customer. We are in touch with our customers. During the design process, we work together to create a design that both the client and Black Cat Studios is proud of. We NEVER send out a completed custom design without the client’s approval of the draft design first.
Some potential customers simply shop on price alone. There is a difference between a kit designed by another company for a price of $15.99, and a custom kit designed by our company for $45.00. Many times, the “cheaper” design company only does a literal photo to chart conversion. No design manipulation or expertise is needed. This company simply imports the image, and the colors fall where they may. We do not understand the concept of charging a customer a different price depending on the stitch area of the design. What difference does that make? Black Cat Studios charges a standard price to design a custom kit. It takes the same amount of design time and effort to design a kit that is 5” x 7” as it does to create one that is 20” x 32”.
Black Cat Studios is a CUSTOM DESIGN COMPANY because we:
* Will remove backgrounds and other parts of a photo or picture, as requested
* Will add backstitch when appropriate to enhance the quality of the design
* Will attempt to reduce the number of floss colors in a design when possible without losing quality in the end result
* When necessary, add floss colors to a design to create more subtle shading in areas such as skin tones and specifically facial features, or any area that needs enhanced detail in shading
* Continually correspond with our clients during the design process, welcoming their ideas and feedback, as the design is being created for them, afterall
* Many times when a photo is translated into a cross stitch program, the conversion leaves a single stitch here and there of a random stray color. We check the location of stitches by highlighting each color in the design. Anything out of place is blended with the surrounding colors.
* At the client’s request, lettering can be added to a design. Lettering may be done in a decorative fashion, incorporating both cross stitch and back stitch together, or may simply be added in back stitch.
As you see outlined in these bullet points, there is quite a bit of design work and expertise that goes into the creation of a custom cross stitch kit. We take pride in the work we complete and look at each customer order as a design challenge.
